The Perfect Mascara

I am an absolute make up junkie, I could be in Boots, Topshop, Sainsbury’s and even the local pound shop and I would manage to find myself in the beauty section.

It was actually in the good old Pound plus world where I found this great Mascara which I have been ranting on about to all of my friends. The brand is Almay and it’s called one coat dial up.

The great thing about it, is that you have the options of how thick you want your application to be and it’s very easy to circulate and get to the setting you want.

The brush is quite skinny, and I notice I never get clumps when applying, the applicator is quite fine, which helps with the smooth application. and lets be honest you you can’t go wrong for a £1.

This particular pound shop, I have noticed has a lot of end of line products, e.g. Collection 2000 products which are priced at £3.99 can be found here just for £1 (I think this was when they were re-branding).

I just wanted to share that with you ladies, just in case you are able to pick one up and try for yourself. If not you can find this on ebay for sure.

Please leave me a comment letting me know if you have used this and your opinions

Have a great weekend

Drugstore Foundation Haul

Good Morning Ladies,

Thursday already, one more day till the weekend, I hope your all doing well.

Recently I have read a lot of reviews about drugstore foundations and how brands such as Rimmel are really upping their game in the foundation department.

I have used various different high and low end foundations ranging from Mac, Nars, Estee Lauder to Collection 2000, and I was happy for a long time with all of them.

I really wanted to try out some of the cheaper drugstore options, so I went on a drugstore spending spree in July and picked up a few foundations (Rimmel). I have had a good couple of months to test them all out and below are my thoughts and opinions on each of them.

All of the foundations are in the colour “Soft Beige”

The first is the Rimmel “Wake me up foundation” I find this to be a really light and smooth foundation, I would say for me this has medium coverage. I normally use this day to day for work and if I wanted to put a face on to pop out to the shops. I like the smooth consistency and the packaging is very compact fits perfectly into a small cosmetic bag, as I travel quite a bit the slim design is perfect for me.

The second is the “Match Perfection” this just blends into my skin so easily, very natural  looking and again for me it is medium to high coverage, the colour suits my skin so perfectly. Rimmel have used smart-tone technology which helps give you flawless looking skin in every kind of lighting this foundation has definitely worked for me it gives me an illuminating finish and as the colour blends in with my natural colour so well, it almost looks like I am wearing a highlight on my cheeks it gives me a very sheen finish.

The last one is the “Rimmel 25 hours lasting finish foundation” This is comparable to my Mac studio finish, I was really impressed with this, and this has to be my favourite of the lot. It has medium to high coverage depending on how much product you apply. Hides away any blemishes and is long lasting, it gives me a fresh look all day long. It is very hydrating in fact all three are, now that the winter months, and the fresh cold air is drawing in I don’t find that I have dry skin at all,  this is a result for me because I have previously suffered with flaky dry skin.

I have also noticed with a new skin care regime and these foundations my skin is a lot more brighter, and illuminating. I am very pleased with those products and I hope they give you the best results also.

I have purchased these foundations in the Uk from Superdrugs, Wilkinson and Boots.

And I believe Superdrugs has an offer on the stay match for £5 at the moment which is a bargain.

Hope you enjoyed reading,

Please leave me a comment, until next time

Keep warm J

Gosh Brow Kit

Good Afternoon All,

Nice and sunny in London today, but very deceiving it is soooo cold!!

Today I wanted to share one of the most important products incorporated into my daily routine. I have been using this GOSH brow kit for the best part of 3 years now, it is a staple in my make-up kit, I do not leave the house without it.

Eye brow filling is the norm these days, but it wasn't as popular three years ago. So here is my short story of how I came about this this amazing product.

I made the mistake of over tweezing my eyebrows, haven’t we all done this at one point or the other? Since this incident I thought I should seek professional help as the situation was spiralling out of control.

I remember me beauty therapist draw in my natural eyebrows and said this is what it would like if you let them keep growing.

The issue was every time I would see the slightest hair I had to get rid of, now she had shown me what they would look like if I grew them, I was adamant that I must grow them out.

So she told me that I needed to pencil in where the hair was growing back and it wouldn't look so bad if I did this. A pencil gives a very harsh line, when filling in eyebrows, at the time I think I was just using a standard brow pencil by L'Oreal, and it gave a very unnatural, drawn in effect.

It was during this time frame that I started following Kandee Johnson on YouTube, she would always fill in her eyebrows when doing eye make –up and it honestly does make all the difference.

It was after this I went to Superdrugs to look for an alternative to the brow pencil, that was when I came across the GOSH brow kit, and I have never looked back since.

The Kit comes in a nice compact circle, includes a mirror and a brush applicator. You have the option of three different shades and a wax cream to apply over the brow once you have filled them in, this will keep them in place. I think the shades work best for blondes and brunettes.

The darker colour is the best match for me, but I use the others as eye shadows or just below the lower lash line to add a pop of colour when I am in a rush, and don't have time to do my eyes, it really lifts the eye.

I use the Mac 266 small angled brush for application.

Please leave me your comments, as I would love to read through them and see what you think.

Until next time wrap up warm!

Pretty Lips...

Hello Ladies,

I hope you are having a great weekend.

I just wanted to take some time out to tell you about a product I have been using for some time now.

The Maybelline Baby Lips range.

I first saw an ad for these in the Stylist (For those of you who don't know Stylist is a free magazine that is given out at tube stations in London every Wednesday. It is packed with the latest fashion and beauty trends.

I am always on the look out for a good lip product, working in a busy office applying lippy all day long can be quite time consuming. I do like to use tinted lip balms but I have not yet been able to find something which leaves colour as well as moisture,

I have tried the Revlon lip butters and was dissapointed as they are more lipstick and less moisture, they also don't have much staying power.

So I went into Superdrugs and picked up one just to try it before I purchased all the different colours. I brought it walked out of the shop unpackaged and used it straight away, I was amazed at how moisturising it was, and the colour was quite intense.

I went straight back in a purchased one in each colour, although the cherry is my favourite. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who wants a pop of colour as well as very moisturised lips.

Here is a picture of the selection I brought:

This is now a staple in my daily cosmetic bag in fact all three are.

Hope you all have an amazing week

Bye for now

The secret to Long and Healthy Hair

I own a selection of hair oils, both for use pre-wash and post, but ever since I made the mistake of bleeching my hair, I make a special effort to oil it before washing.

I remember my Mother used to oil my hair as a child, I guess I stopped using it becuase of the smell, a lot of Pakistani women still oil their hair which explains why a lot of asian women have very strong and healthy looking hair.

I have used a variety of different oils including Amla oil, Jasmine oil and Coconut oil, I never seemed to notice that much difference.

A friend of mine has very soft, thick and naturally shiny hair, she told me her secret: mixing together various different oils and applying to the hair as one.

She gave me a sample to use and I instantly noticed the difference, my hair was very soft and shiny growing a lot quicker and generally healthier.

I went to my local Pak's shop, for those who don't know Pak's is the equivalant of a drugstore that sells a whole heap of hair products, wigs, oils, hair treatments, contact lenses, hair accessories, nail polish and the list goes on.

I picked up the following oils:

1) Olive
2) Castor
3) Sesame
4) Coconut
5) Amla

I got an empty water bottle and mixed them all together, naturally the oils sit differently, so after mixing them all together I gave the bottle a proper shake so that they all blend in with one another.

I apply this to my hair twice a week before washing, I tend to leave it on for a few hours. Note: Don't forget to shake the bottle before use!!

I hope this works just as well for you ladies, as it does for me.

Lot's of Love

Until next time....

For all you book worms

I love reading a good book, but recently life is just so busy that I just don’t get the time.

I am a big fan of Khaled Hosseini author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. I have read both of these books and thought that they were excellent.

So when I heard of his latest release “And the mountains echoed” I logged on to Amazon and couldn’t wait to get my copy.

I haven’t read it yet but no doubt it will be a great book, if the first two titles are anything to go by.

Has anyone read this yet?

Please leave a comment telling me what you thought.

Keep warm In the cold lovelies

Winter Warmer

Hello Again Ladies,

I hope this weather isn't getting you down, I just wanted to share a new purchase with you today.

As the winter weather kicks in, I thought it was time to get a new coat, my go to store for a new coat is Zara, last year I purchased a leather sleeve coat, which is still in fashion but I wanted something different, and who needs an excuse for a new coat.

Whilst browsing the Zara website I came across "Special Prices" I think this is a clever decision from Zara to step up their game with competitors such as H & M who also deliver good quality high end fashionable garments at reasonable prices.

I have always been a fan of Blazers and the whole boyfriend look, so when I came across this coat, I knew I had to have it.

It is the perfect coat, can be worn casually with skinny jeans, and ankle boots, and also works with smart clothes for work.

It is priced at £39.99, and I ordered online at Zara.com, I don't believe it is available in stores as I didn't see it recently when shopping, it may be that it is only available in certain stores, but your best bet is ordering online.

The coat is meant to be over-sized, that is the style, I am normally a size 10 in a coat, I went for the extra small and it is the perfect fit.

That's all for now,

:-)
